Kathy Kelly co-coordinates Voices for Creative Nonviolence, an organization started in 2005 “with deep, long-standing roots in active nonviolent resistance to U.S. war making.” Previously, she co-founded Voices in the Wilderness, an organization formed to “nonviolently challenge the economic warfare being waged against the people of Iraq.” Kelly visited Iraq more than 25 times to bring medicine to Iraqi families and to meet with United Nations representatives.

“I’ve been frightened many times in my life. One of the scariest times, initially, was when I went to federal prison in Lexington, Kentucky for nine months in 1989. I planted corn on top of nuclear missile sites on five separate occasions.”
